NOIDA: Police were left in a tizzy on Thursday after six carjackings were reported from different parts of the city in the past 24 hours.
The first incident took place near Amity College around 1.30 pm on Wednesday when Sanjay Mishra, a driver, had come in a Chevrolet Spark to drop his employer Harish Sharma's daughter near Sector 127. After dropping the girl, the victim had stopped his car near a roadside eatery for lunch. As soon as he stepped out, four miscreants held him at gunpoint and robbed him of his car. An FIR has been lodged at Sector 39 police station.
Three hours later, a resident of Sector 128, Sushil Tyagi, was robbed of his car near Sector 120. He was heading towards Parthla village when his car suddenly broke down. He stepped out of his car to check the engine and as soon he again got into his vehicle, miscreants held him at gunpoint and fled with his car.
The third incident took place at 7 pm on Wednesday when one Suryamani, a native of Kanpur, was returning from Delhi to Noida in his Maruti Wagon R. Near Botanical Garden, three bike-borne assailants signalled him to stop. As soon as he stopped, two bibikers held him at gunpoint and robbed him of his car.
Exactly two hours later, a BSNL employee was robbed of his Maruti Alto near Golf Course. Manveer was returning home when three bike-borne assailants overtook his car and forced him to stop. They held him at gunpoint and fled with his car. The police have lodged an FIR.
The fifth carjacking was reported from near Sector 122 when Upender, a driver, stopped his Hyundai Accent when some men signalled him for a lift. The men got into the car, held him at gunpoint and pushed him out of the car, before fleeing with the vehicle. An FIR has been lodged.
Around 10.30 pm, when East Delhi resident Preeti Pant was heading towardsGreater Noida in her Maruti Dzire, three bikers overtook her car and forced her to stop near Fortis hospital. They then held the occupants of the car at gunpoint and robbed them of their mobile, purse, before fleeing with the vehicle. Police have lodged an FIR.
