[AssotechNest] Re: Today's TOI News report enclosed on Malfunction of lift killing one and hurting another

Hi All

We will not get any solution till all residents come for unite effort.  GBM is planned on 13/04/2014 at 5:30 PM to discuss current issue of Nest and plan further action.

I am sure you all have important work at time of GBM but GBM is most important for your own home.

I request all residents get some time from busy schedule and attend GBM to plan further action.

Regards

When most of things are not OK, any and every way of asking question is right way.

* No soln yet to the parking problem.
* Maint charges are deducted in spite of site being not fully ready.
* Lifts are always under maintenance and increase the waiting time. It also has risk associated with it.

There is no target date of closure for any issue. They simply getting piled up and people hear lot of excuses and false promise.

Dear Mr. Krishnan,

Hope now are feeling okay.

Good to hear this - but frankly speaking between all of us - do you really think they are even trying?????

Or is it just another lollypop - like the mess they have created for parking - which despite 2+ years is still mess.

What do you think? Will be eagerly waiting for inputs on this regards from your side.

Regards.

Dear All

I had sent this mail to Assotech on April 1, but unfortunately my health took a worse turn thereafter and I became nonfunctional.  I however am happy to know that Assotech has taken the lift issue serious and have since been holding productive meetings with the top brasses of Johnson ( the lift producers).

Let us all hope something positive will result soon.

Best wishes and regards

Dear Mr. Sandeep Jain

I am appending below a  news item appearing on page 3 of today's Times of India mentioning about how a pulley got dismantled from a lift resulting in the death of one and injury to another.
It is such happenings that cause fear and anxiety in the minds of all lift users

Fore-warned is fore-armed.

I suggest that we should probably go in for regular monthly preventive maintenance of all the lifts in the NEST complex, checking the pulleys, the ropes, nuts and bolts etc. to prevent

Some time back in a C-Tower lift repair, the maintenance chap put a smaller rope for the lift.  It was the alertness of Shri Kaptan Singh which prevented the lift being operated with a smaller rope. The rope was changed the next day and a possible mishap averted.

Prevention is always good rather than repentance later.  Human lives should always be valued more than money.

Thanks and regards

Lift malfunction kills one, hurts another

Purusharth Aradhak,TNN | Apr 1, 2014, 04.13 AM IST

NOIDA: An employee of a garments company died while his colleague was critically injured in Noida's Sector 63 area after the list malfunctioned, on Sunday. Police said the malfunction happened after the lift's pulley got dismantled.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Abhay Kumar of Modi Nagar in Ghaziabad, and his injured colleague as Shyam Kumar. Both worked in a garment company in the Cornwall block of Sector 63. An FIR against the company owner, manager and lift manager has been lodged with Sector 58 police station and they are investigating.

The latest death adds to rising number of mishaps caused by ill-maintained elevators as Noida and Ghaziabad development authorities have failed to put errant developers and companies to task who take public safety lightly.

Three months ago, a similar malfunction was reported where a six-member family from Delhi was stuck in a restaurant's lift for 2 hours in Sector 26. The family was attending an engagement party at the venue when incident took place. The police, allegedly, failed to provide timely help and the restaurant staff had to pull them out.

Following this, the Noida Authority decided to take action against malls, shopping centers, commercial towers, group housing apartments and other high-rise buildings with ill-maintained lifts. "The Authority is likely to penalize and take appropriate legal action against errant realtors or building owners, who people's lives at risk with poorly maintained lifts. We will examine how they conduct maintenance of lifts, and whether a realtor or building owner adheres to safety norms or not. Stern action will be taken against those guilty," Manoj Kumar Rai, officer on special duty (OSD), the Noida Authority had claimed.

Officials had also decided to place a clause in lease-deed that if a property owner fails to ensure adequate safety in lift, it is empowered to take appropriate action.

However, concerns about safety of elevators in the city continue to rise. "Having a competent authority that monitors maintenance by the company that runs lifts is of urgent requirement in Noida. Lift companies are playing with people's lives," said R P Sharma, a Noida-based social activist.
