Dear CROMA Members,
There have been recent E-mails sent on the CROMA Yahoo Group with the intent of misleading the members. Team CROMA has spelled out the reasons in the GBM called last month on the compulsions of dissolving the Governing Body. The resolution passed in the GBM as well as the agenda item for the next GBM makes it clear that the process for electing a new Governing Body will be initiated on 21st April 2013 GBM.
With this communication, Team CROMA wants to clear a few facts.
1) What was the need for an Interim Governing Body? What were the immediate triggers for dissolving the Governing Body?
Since the CROMA's Vice-President (Mr. R. K. Soni), one Joint Secretary (Mr. Abhinav Sahay) and the Treasurer (Mr. Sudhir Singh) had already resigned due to some unavoidable circumstances and the current President was not actively involved in the day to day activities and not coming in the Governing Body Meetings from a long time and the expectations from Crossing Residents were high (specially on Dumping Ground Legal Case) so the current Governing Body Members called an emergency meeting and passed a No Confidence Motion against the 7 office bearers and then as per the CROMA Bye-Laws under section 9B, the 3/5th of the majority voted against the office bearers. The previous Governing Body Office Bearers are still in the Interim Governing Body including President, General Secretary and Joint Secretary.
Since the Election was required now and it will take some time and handing over from the dissolved body, and in order to conduct the fair election as well as looking into the day to day activities, the Governing Body has formed an Interim Office Bearers of 7 persons among the current Governing Body and they will work until the next election is done.
Since the Dumping Ground petition filed by CROMA is pending in the Supreme Court, the body is required to maintain its continuity. Therefore the interim body is formed as a care taker for many purposes till the election is concluded and fair elected body is formed.
2) What were the other reasons apart from the immediate triggers to dissolve the Governing Body?
1) No GBM was called by the Elected Governing Body for the past one year to update the members on the working on various issues in Crossings Republik. No financial plans or reports were shared which was requested many times personally or on public forum. No membership details were shared. The understanding was to at least call a GBM every 3 months. However, never acknowledged any direct question by the former President of the Governing Body.
2) It was not the first time that concerns on the dysfunctional team were raised internally. A No Confidence Motion was proposed in the month of October last year. There were promises made which were subsequently never adhered to Mr. Gurmukh Singh (former President) promised to devote more time but could not due to various reasons but he enjoyed their post being Chief Guest of multiple function and used CROMA Name on multiple platform without keeping the entire Governing Body Members in the loop about the actions being undertaken.
3) The CROMA's Charter of Demands, which contains 32 important point of Crossings Republic and almost all issues/demand are listed, was not followed up at all after July 2012. This showed carelessness about the issues in Crossings Republik and total lack of apathy on the part of the Office Bearers.
4) There were financial irregularities found in the organization of the Dussehra Mela held in 2012. The interim Finance Team is till date facing a challenge in collating the expense details. The situation came to a head when a few Governing Body Members started using CROMA platform for their own financial benefits and no action were taken by the Office Bearers. The amount collected on account of donations and sponsorships were held in personal accounts of few members. The interim body has literally forced the amounts to be transferred to CROMA account. Unaccounted commissions were earned. The erstwhile office bearers were silent on these aspects.
5) The former President and the General Secretary did not have a working relationship on account of their differences in their society RWA. The dissolution of the body was also meant to move on and stop these differences from being a roadblock in getting meetings organized and work being initiated. Something is amiss in the former President first being happy at the dissolution and calling for elections and then suddenly changing tack. This all happened in the President ship of Mr. Gurmukh Singh Salh.
The veiled messages on the forum targeting the interim Governing Body being undemocratic and working under the influence of a few are not in good taste to say the least. In interim period, whatever was promised / mentioned in charter of demand was taken up and we ensured closures as well. The focus on the Dumping Ground issue is sacrosanct and it's being followed diligently. The financial records are being put straight. The communication is being taken seriously and regular updates are being sent.
These differences will ruin the morale of people wanting to contribute to the common wellbeing of Crossings Republik. The discussions should not be reduced to a fight for posts. Those who are willing to work and devote time to common causes should come forward and strengthen CROMA. Crossings Republik will prosper with or without CROMA or any other common umbrella. It's only us who will lose a chance to contribute.
Hope you will now came to know why the elected Governing Body has been changed and interim Governing Body has been formed. We leave this question to all residents and all the other people who have been written mails on the public form for restoring the previous management.
